Newington College LitFest 2023

I recently had the honour of attending Newington College Litfest 2023 at the invitation of Ann Jagger and her unrivalled team of librarians and teachers. Over the course of three exciting days, I delivered eleven talks and workshops for hundreds of wonderful young readers and writers. This is my fourth invitation to the LitFest since 2017, so I must be doing something right…

I never cease to marvel at the sight of my novel in school libraries!

Over the course of the festival, I ran four one-hour workshops on my YA fantasy novel Empire of the Waves for Year 7 and 8 English students, six workshops on North Korea for Year 11 and Year 12 Legal Studies and History students, and a very special additional workshop on Mod C: The Craft of Writing for Year 12 English Advanced students.

The Newington College Litfest remains one of the best student festivals of literature in Australia (one of the best festivals of literature in Australia full stop) and it is always a thrill to attend!

In the Green Room with many of the best writers in Australia!
